“M3TG stuck out to me because they brought with them a well-defined methodology. From the get-go,
they had a script to follow and knew exactly what they were doing every step of the way.”

Extended Stay: Moving and Consolidating Multiple Systems
Date: May 12, 2008

Extended Stay Hotels recently initiated the first phase of their datacenter relocation project, partnering with M3TG to consolidate resources from a then-current host located in Atlanta, GA, to a more robust and secure facility in Springfield, MA.

The most critical aspect of this consolidation phase entailed both physical relocation of servers/mail stores and a migration of ESH’s Exchange 2003 shared messaging infrastructure to a dedicated Exchange 2007 system. The Exchange 2003 server system satisfied ESH’s messaging needs for a short time; however, the system was not a dedicated messaging environment, performing other critical services as well. As ESH continued to grow in both business and operations, the legacy system was becoming obsolete as it struggled to keep pace with the load placed upon it. ESH concurrently determined that centralizing their IT infrastructure into a modern data center would best serve the company’s stringent requirements for service availability and uptime.

Because email represents such a critical component of Extended Stay Hotels’ business operations, the organization enlisted the services of M3 Technology Group to perform its email system upgrade to new 64-bit hardware platform and incorporate Exchange 2007 into their infrastructure. As is often the case with many businesses, a critical requirement for ESH was that the deployment and migration occur with no downtime and with minimal impact to end users.
